You walk out that familiar office door for the last time, set the cardboard box stuffed with the paperweight and family pictures next to you on the car seat, remove your tie -- and toss it out the window as far as you can. Now it's time to put on some comfortable shoes and start doing all those things you told yourself you were going to do but never seemed to have time for.
Yes -- the time is now! Nightwing Photo is all about capturing the images of the enjoyment of life beyond the work-a-day world.
Based in Columbus, I'm able to go just about anywhere with relative ease. I'm completely portable. My road show consists of backdrops & studio strobes with all the trimmings so I can achieve studio-quality results -- anywhere. Click Here for my rates.
I have enjoyed taking pictures since my days in the U.S. Air Force but it was working in television production that put food on my table. I spent years lighting sets, working on news shows, doing sports and commercial remotes, ad infinitum. This has given me valuable insight into imaging, lighting, and presentation in their highest forms. While it had its own rewards, working in commercial TV was limiting at times because although there are an infinite number of ways to throw light on a face or position a camera, there is a considerably lesser range of techniques considered acceptable in this environment. Then one day I decided that it was time to 'remove the tie': use the technical aspects I had learned along the way and release years of pent-up creativity through photography -- and have fun doing it.
...the name and that snazzy logo?
I never traveled more than a couple hundred miles from home (on family vacations) until I turned 18 and joined Uncle Sam's Traveling Air Circus -- the Air Force. I flew to exotic places, mostly at night; and to a homebody from Mayfield Heights, every trip was exciting...an adventure waiting to happen. It is this type of anticipation and excitement I seek to achieve with Nightwing Photo.
The use of an Art Deco format for my logo was a natural choice: I'm trying to bring back a look of class, glamour and elegance not seen since then.
And now the grown-up stuff...
